Card Swaps

Many people are familiar with scrapbooking “crops” where people come together to share tools and ideas and company while they work on their scrapbooks, but not as many people are familiar with card swaps.

Vanessa  Tidwell, from St. Anthony, enjoys making cards and scrapbooking, and enjoys card swaps because they are a creative outlet and a good way to get new ideas.   There are several ways to do card swaps, according to Vanessa, who is a member of 4 different groups.

One way is to attend a monthly get-together, where each person brings a batch of one type of card she has made for each of the other people.  The members of the group alternate each month teaching the other members how to make her card.  The other cards are complete and they are exchanged.  So, the members learn to make one card and come home with 10 or 12 different cards.  It’s a fun time together.

Another version is to exchange cards by mail.  The group’s leader receives each member’s packet of cards by a pre-determined date and mails them out to the group members.

Check around with your friends, you may be surprised to find that there is a group who would welcome you and where you can have lots of fun.❑
